Git mirror
The Git mirror keeps the history of your filters: every upload, rename and deletion becomes a commit in a Git repository. Set it up in Settings › Git Mirror (needs a subscription).
Where the repository lives
- A folder on this device (Choose Folder…), e.g. next to your other repositories. Without one, the repository stays inside the app. A folder in iCloud Drive works but is not recommended: iCloud syncs the files inside the repository one by one, which can damage it when several devices write to it.
- A remote (optional): the HTTPS or SSH address of a repository on GitHub, GitLab, Gitea or your own server.
Sievesmith pushes after every commit. For an SSH port other than 22, write it after the host:
ssh://git@git.example.com:2222/you/sieve.git.
With a folder and a remote, the folder holds a clone of the remote. The remote and its sign-in sync to your other devices; the folder is chosen on each device.
Signing in to the remote
- Access token (HTTPS): a personal access token with write access to the repository.
- Imported SSH key: paste a private key (OpenSSH or PEM, optionally with its passphrase).
- SSH key of this device: a key created in the Secure Enclave of this device; it never leaves the device. Share Public Key gives you the line to add to your Git host’s SSH keys. Create one per device.
The first SSH connection shows the server’s key fingerprint. Trust This Key only if it matches the fingerprint your Git host publishes.
Layout and author
Script Path decides where scripts go, with the placeholders {host}, {user}, {server} and {script}; the
default is {host}-{user}/scripts/{script}.sieve. A preview shows an example. Commits use the author name and
e-mail you enter, or “Sievesmith sievesmith@localhost”.
Save connects the mirror; Synchronize Now pushes waiting commits. If a commit or push fails, Sievesmith tells you after the upload; your upload to the mail server is not affected. The demo server is never mirrored.
